Joy Wall Art
I love wooden letters and wanted to buy the letters but for the large ones they cost at least 2.50 or more at the craft store, and if I had my own scroll saw I could make some myself but since I dont and didn't want to pay allot for letters I bought these 3x5 unfinished wood plaques at .59 cents a piece.
Plus these are a little more unique.
What you need
- unfinished wood plaques (at most craft stores)
- stain
- paint
- glitter paint
- sawtooth hangers or something like it
- clipboard letters, stickers, stencils or paint letters
- ribbon
- glue for clipboard letters
sand out rough parts on your unfinished wood plaques and clean with a damp cloth
Stain and Paint
I forgot to take photos when I was staining and painting.
All I did was stain the edging of the plaques, then I coated the rest in a gray paint to match my silver glitter paint both were from Martha Stewart Crafts
Then I did to many coats of glitter paint to make them extra sparkling
Add your hanging hardware
once they are completely dry you need to add your hangers, you can buy sawtooth hangers almost anywhere but I had different ones left over from my mirrors I hung on the door in my mudroom so I used those.
They came with tiny screws so I screwed them in.
Just follow directions of what hangers you use.
Now its time for your letters
I happen to also have these light green clipboard letters around the house and they were the right size, you can buy these from the scrap-booking section at a craft store, they come in all sorts of sizes and colors. These had to be glued on.
You can also paint your own letters, use stencils, or stickers.
Then add ribbon and hang
I used a wide red satin ribbon that came from a card-making business that close years ago,I used to get all m y good stuff from them when they had special open house shopping.
I tired different ways to hang them and I preferred hanging them from the ribbon. I also used silver tacks to hang them since they are light.
I hope you enjoyed my Joy wall art
It cost me $1.77 plus tax for the plaques, $2.79 for the glitter paint and everything else I had on hand.
Tomorrow I'll share my fabric scrap wreath and Christmas themed link party will begin!
