Organizing Stamps & More

We still do not have power, its been 4 days, I wonder how they did it back in the day? I've been doing fine, its a pain filling the toilet tank to flush, not having cooked food stinks, pb&j is getting old.

But I do have my handy netbook, a power converter for my car. Although my jeep is dead because I charged two DVD portable players, three DS's and tried to make coffee with my coffee maker but I guess my jeep wasn't powerful enough for it.

Other then that I did do some organizing with my clear stamps, wood stamps and ink pads, which is much needed.

All my wood stamps are now in one place, these storage boxes from Target are great fro crafts.

Labeled my storage boxes with leftover scrap paper and craft scissors.

Nice and neat ink pads, I keep them upside down because I was told that keeps the ink fresh, I'm not sure if its true but I'd rather be safe then sorry.

This is my pile of clear stamps, if you know how these are they are hard to organize in a bin, they stick together and some are tiny, so

I picked up a wide binder and business card clear pages

I cut up cute scrap paper to place in the slots, then organize the stamps by placing the ones together that came in the same package.
I placed tiny ones together.

Some stamps were still on the hard plastic that they came with so I cut them out to make it easy to slide in and out of the slots.

Now I can search for the stamps I want to use and keep them tidy and neat in the same place.

For some of the bigger clear stamps I will use page protectors.

..........................................................................................................

I also spent the day organizing my Bj's and manufacture coupons to do a big shop tonight.
They expire soon and I dont want to miss out.

A few other things I wanted to share

This cute phone my mother gave me, I actually begged her to have it! I love that it looks vintage but the buttons work like a regular phone.

I added some gray ruffled fabric strips to my lampshade for some cuteness and I will have a tutorial on this later.

What have you been up to? Do you have any great organization tips for crafts?

Still in the dark...

We still do not have power, since Sunday at 1pm.

The kids were suppose to start school today but they can't because some of the schools don't have power, so they are going to start tomorrow, maybe.

The thing that makes me annoyed is I saw the Nstar truck by my road and our family relatives who lives on another street received there power but we haven't, that was last night at 8pm.
I'm hoping to get it back on today, my biggest concern if the kids needing to shower, clean clothes, and food for school.

I know others have had worse, and were lucky nothing more severe happen, the storm knock 2 pine trees down but not near the house or cars.

I cant wait to get back to painting and working on my bar/server.

I worked on my outdoor bar, its almost complete.

There is a hurricane supposedly coming this way Sunday.

And Big Brother is on tonight.

Here is a photo of the so far outdoor bar/server
I actually just worked on it some more today, I basically need to put supports around the legs and add the shelf on top of those supports. Then I need to go over all the wood again with the outdoor sealer, probably a few more coats.

I also started painting the server, this is a photo of the base color and the inside color, its Martha Stewart's Schoolhouse Slate.
This color is a little bit darker then the photo and this is only one coat.

Okay so I'm done talking about myself, here are the features.

Designed To Dwell's pretty blue dresser redo

Lemon Tree Creation's puff quilt, this is really cute, I really need to learn how to quilt this winter

Spruce Your Nest's wall shelf that was originally on top of a dresser, I think this very creative.

I only wish I had taken a before shot, it was a dark ugly green.

I used a tropical blue color, and distressed it on the edges.

You can even lean plates and picture frames on the shelf

I only used wax for the sealer

This lovely shelf will be added to my Etsy shop soon.

I also added this cute little anchor box, I know I seem to paint everything blue, I did pick different colors for my next piece!

I also started to makeover these lampshades I picked up at target that have purple trim.

What have you been working on or want to?

I've been organizing like crazy around here, cleaning and preparing the mudroom room for much needed work. The kids go back to school on the 30th! I'm going to start going back to the gym in the am when they get on the bus, I'm very excited to get back into routine.

I feel like I really need to get some awesome furniture redos and crafty projects on my blog, I think I've neglected it long enough.  Once the kids are back in school and I have a little bit more free time I will be able to get more done.

If you kids are going back or already have whats the one thing your looking forward to?

Updated Lamp For The Mudroom

Yesterday when I posted photos of the cute small office ideas I noticed how everyone had lamps and I always love a lamp but never thought to have one in the mudroom.

I have a wall light near the computer so I didn't need one there.

I had a small wood lamp base in the basement that I was using for extra light and decided it would be perfect for the sitting on the shoe cabinet from Ikea and not be to big.

This is what the lamp base looked like before
It actually had a truck lampshade and it was in my sons room. I dont think he will mind, he will get a new one.

I picked up the lampshade at Target for around $7, which is a lot for a small shade but the shape was perfect for the top of the shoe cabinet which is not very wide.

It also needed some cuteness, so I added faux bois ribbon that I picked up at the craft store for .98 cents a while ago.

It looks great with the light on.

I painted the base with a Martha Stewart light blue oops paint in satin.

Although it doesn't look like it gives of good light in the photos, but it does and for a 40watt bulb it seems brighter then the ceiling lights.

My guy asked why I put a lamp in the mudroom, I showed him some photos to prove it happens.
