Updates : custom work, cleaning & bunting art

This morning was spent organizing the workshop and cleaning a few ares, mainly to make room for furniture coming in from a custom painting job.

The workshop wasn't extremely messy but I needed to clean of the table and move pieces around to make room. I dont have a huge space to work in but a decent size, of course there is more room now that I moved things around.

I would love to have walls up but this is not our forever home...and maybe someday I'll have my own barn for a studio.

I added some hooks on the one of the shelves to hold my paint brushes.
I also added hooks a few weeks ago to hold some of my most used tools.

This is a wood breadbox I'm working on. I'm going to paint on "bread" on the front of the door.

The pieces I'll be working on are so beautiful, I love the shape and detail. There are two twin headboards,foot-boards and rails, a matching dresser (with a mirror )and a nightstand
Also a neat telephone table and a bunk-bed set.
I will be very busy with this and a few knob orders this week, but will try to post some updates and not neglect my blog.

I also have two signs I'm working on for my shop and this

Bunting wall art, I need to get much better photos but this will be for sale on my etsy shop.

I think this would be adorable for a baby's room.

I can't believe January is almost over, it is the one month I'm not crazy about...cold days...not much sunlight and lots of snow. But this year its different, we had one good snowstorm and that snow is already melted.

Anyway...I shared my heart banner I made from those little wood hearts from the craft store you can see that here.

I've been mostly working on small pieces I'm painting and crafting for my Etsy shop and completing orders. I'm hoping to work on some bigger projects to share soon.

I Heart Wood

Wood Heart Banner

Sometimes...well most of the time I go to the craft store to pick up a few supplies and end up bringing home other things that weren't on my list.

To make these
I picked up these unfinished hearts

sorry for the bad quality photo

and I stained them in dark walnut and painted one side with a very light pink and a dry brush method.

I used these tiny hook and eyes

and used my powerdrill very gently to start a hole and then I hand screwed them into the hearts

I hung them on a piece of satin white ribbon

and that is it

simple and cost me around $4.00

this is the paint

it is called ballet slipper and i bought the sample size on clearance for .50 cents at The Home Depot

this and the dining room are the only areas I'll decorate for Valentines day

I finally took out my cloche I bought for $4.99 at the Christmas Tree Shop, I added the little bird and some red satin ribbon and white cotton string to mimic a nest.

I picked these up from Michaels Arts and Crafts , they are in the dollar section, although I'm not sure where they will go yet

Valentines Day is on a Tuesday so I'll be making a nice dinner and dessert and spend it with our kids

I wouldn't mind being taken to the Cheesecake Factory on the weekend

I'll be linking this up at some great parties, click here to find out which ones

Retro Winter

I've mention before about this app for my android phone that I'm currently obsessed with....its called Retro Camera and its somewhat like Instagram but unfortunately android users cant get that app yet.

I took a bunch of photos with my phone on Saturday....it finally snowed here.

On this app you get 6 vintage like cameras that take different photos and most have black and white option.

They have a Polaroid like option

This photo below is what it looks like when you taking photos

Here are my photos
I'm still learning about this app so I can't remember what camera option goes to the photos.

This is my driveway

This is a normal photo from my phone...not using the app

Yesterday we finally picked up a wireless router so we can stream Netflix....we watch about 6 episodes of Storage Wars.

This late afternoon was about watching the New England Patriots win....I made salad...french fries and hamburgers....I also made a chocolate cake earlier for tonight and very yummy easy nacho dip which consists of cream cheese, salsa and cheese on the top and you bake it until its melted and eat it with tortilla chips.

Its really simple yet very delicious
