Sewing and Craft Armoire

sewingarmoire-1.jpeg

I recently shared my new workspace and you can read that here. Today i am sharing about the computer armoire that I painted and now holds my sewing machine, tools, silhouette machine and accessories.

You also can see to the right Harper’s craft area…I will share more on hers in another post.

We got this for free years ago and we used it for the family computer. It was nice to hide it when it wasn’t in use. When we turned this area into my workspace I wanted to keep it here and use it to store my sewing and other things. We ended up attached the desk top to it.

Before we made this into a workspace I painted it in simply white by Benjamin Moore. It was black with a green color inside.

My hubby added the hardware that I found on clearance at IKEA since it did not have any and was difficult to open.

Its really hard to get a good photo of the inside…not much light and anytime I open the doors Weston comes running to play with them.

I used a oops paint for the inside. Its a off white color that I found for $5 at Home Depot.

I did not paint the inside of the doors or the keyboard shelf because I plan to add organizers and cork board down the road.

We used the IKEA SUNNERSTA rail. The hooks and containers are great for organizing. It was a little difficult hanging.

I had the accordion peg rack and thought it would be great for storing my fabric scissors that I have to hid from my hubby.

The ribbon organizer I already had but I found this one that is basically the same Wooden Ribbon Ladder.

The little bins on bottom shelf hold power cords and other items those are from IKEA..SOCKERBIT Box.

Here is the only before photo that I could find on my phone from years ago…with the dog in the way. I could not find a before of the inside.

I still have so much more craft items I need to put away and organize and I need get rid of some that I don’t use.

Thank you for reading!

New Ceiling Fans And House Plant

whitefan.jpeg

Over memorial day weekend the hubby put up a new ceiling fan in our kitchen/sitting area and one in Harper and Westons room.

We do not have air conditioning in this house, we can not install them in the windows and central air is so pricey. Ceiling fans are great at keeping the area cool and move air around. They used to always be so ugly to me but now a days they have a variety of styles.

This white one was only $89 on sale at Home Depot. You can find it here but unfortunately it is not onsale right now.

This is the light we had. We used to have a kitchen table in here and never replaced the light when we decided to turn this into a family room. I still need to move my wall decor over since buying the sofa.

If your interested the sofa is from IKEA and we love it. I plan to share some of my favorite IKEA finds soon.

I liked this fan because of the style of the light it came with. Its very bright as well. The best part is its very quiet and we can sill hear the tv when it is on.

I chose this fan for the kids room. I thought it had a vintage vibe and I liked the matte black. Its bright enough for the space and a tiny bit noisy but I think that helps them sleep better even though we have a sound machine.

I bought this one for only $39! onsale the week before memorial day. This one is a flush mount style and hugs the ceiling wall. You can find it here.

Lastly I wanted to share newest hanging plant. I found this at Trader Joes for $10.99 a few weeks ago. I ordered a three pack of macrame plant hangers from Amazon and put this one in the biggest one. I hope I can keep him alive but I think i need to hang it lower or remove the blinds.

I also wanted to mention that I’m trying to post more and but I have been super busy these past few weeks and June is full of more activities. Stay tuned and thank you for reading.

Schoolhouse Chalkboard Wall and New Light

chalkboardwall-1.jpeg

I finished this project back in November.

I always thought about painting this wall in our hall for a while and I decided to go ahead and do it. I went with school house green because I wanted something different then black.

chalkhallbefore-1.jpg

Here is the before. Just a plain wall with the emergency oil switch. This hall leads to bedrooms, mudroom and garage and to the living room and kitchen. So a lot of traffic comes through here.

I used the rustolium chalkboard paint at Home Depot and had them mix the color schoolhouse green to it.

The light fixtures were found at Walmart and part of a vintage collection. They were a clearance find from $20 and I paid $8 for each. I bought four of them so two went in this hall and the other two in the mudroom.

i like the industrial look, much better then the boob light.

Harper likes to write on this and I put announcements or birthdays for that month on it. I really just like the look of chalkboard paint.

This is a easy diy project and changing out light fixtures is a great way to update a space.
