Makeover: Step Stool

picture via

I've had this stool for a year or more from Ikea, it was only $14.99 and it is pretty handy, I use it all the time but I want to keep it in our closet since I have trouble reaching the top shelf so I gave it a quick makeover yesterday.

{ here it is in my closet, with a pillow to make it more comfy looking }

I stained it with Minwax Dark Walnut and used Minwax Finishing Paste Wax for the sealer.

I used my electric sander and hand sanded it smooth before I stained it.

Now it looks better, and it can also be used as a seat...super handy

Here is a sneak preview ( bad cell phone photo ) of what I'm working on in between working on a million other things

I defiantly dont have a cool phone that takes good photos.

This is a Queen Anne style drop leaf coffee table that was given to me by a friend, I painted it in a light green and working on the taping the stripes, but I ran out of tape.

and another bad photo, but I'm not finished so I dont want a good photo yet anyway.

This is the server I've been working on for a long time now, I'm so close to being done I'm excited. I need to paint a few small details distress some more and wax.

I also found out today that a multi-dealer antique store near my parents are selling Annie Sloan's products I've been wanting the wax's for a while now but didn't want to pay for the shipping so this weekend I'm going to pick some up.....and maybe some paint.

I'm off to finish the server and taping the coffee table, there isn't anything good on TV tonight so I'll just work.
