Shabby Chic Table

This has to be my favorite table I've made over. It was used in a living room between to chairs but I though it would be lovely in a kitchen. I also though with casters it would make a great island if you have a small space. Unfortunately the casters I wanted to use didn't work out.

The paint color is "Del Mar Blue" by Benjamin Moore. The same color I used on the telephone table for my clients.

The before

A little fuzzy....

I knew I wanted to distress this table. I did the wax technique on this and basically I primed the table after using a deglosser on it. Then I painted a coat of white paint. After that dried I applied Minwax paste wax over areas I wanted to distress...which was most of it. Then I added two coats of the blue paint .

I then let the table dry and cure for several days. Then sanded it with my electric sander.

I just love the legs.

I used wax again for protection but it was so smooth already.

My favorite part about the table is the knobs i purchased for it from Dlawlesshardware.com . They are 1 1/2 inch milk white glass knobs.

I love going big with knobs.

If I only had the space in my kitchen for this. I do want to change my island to this color now.

I will be adding that idea to my summer list of to dos.
