I'm trying to post the rest of the furniture makeovers before summer ends and I recently shared the arrow desk & aqua chair, mid century couch, bed to bench 2, the antique hutch and much more.
Today I'm sharing this chippy table.
I had sanded down the table to bare wood a long time ago but got left behind in my storage. I decided to wait and have it ready for the vintage bazaar, I wanted to set up a homey space and it also was a great piece to hold my vintage strawberry plates, plate stands and other vintage goods.
I had vision it to be look old and chippy so I went with it. I stained the top in dark walnut. I then painted it in Benjamin Moore's gray owl ( it looks more off white ) then sanded it down...a lot. I used wax to smooth the top...and it was smooth.
I painted the legs in Winter Gates ( AC-30 ) also Benjamin Moore.
The strawberry plates were an awesome find. I had a bin full of this collection so I decided to make some into plate stands. I ordered the hardware online and this one shown in the photo came of a broken plate stand I had. I bought the bit for my drill and it only lasted through 4 sets. One set was of different plates. I ended up selling the two large ones and this one is in my space at Crompton. I do hope to make more but want nicer hardware. I also still have the rest of the plates and bowls and will be bringing those in to my space this week.
They are 1950's to 1960's Mikasa
This vintage egg beater went fast
and here is the before, sitting upside down.
I wish I had taken a photo of the table before styling it with the vintage goods but I forgot.....I did sell this one at the end of the show.
I will be painting a round table for the fall show! With four fabric seated chairs.
I will be sharing this chippy table at many awesome link parties, you can see which ones here.
