I'm finally getting around to sharing our master bedroom reveal....after painting the walls about two years ago. I really had photos ready to share but then I changed things around and retook photos. So I will be sharing what it looks like now and what it looked like after giving the room its makeover. Hopefully this won't be to confusing. The photo above is how it looks today. With some cluttered areas of course. This is just how we are. I am still looking for a more modern nightstand for my side of the bed. I painted the one for my guy to the left. I recently purchased the duvet cover from Target on clearance. I wanted a dark print to hide the dog hair.
This photo was taken a year ago. When we had the settee in the room..thats now in the new sitting room. I will share the before and after photos another day on that. The art is different and we have less pillows on the bed and replaced the bedding.
Again these were are all taken a year ago or so. The headboard is from IKEA. I bought it for $30 and I reupholstered it in a woven upholstery fabric. I used nail head trim to add a little more detail to. I went with a simple color to easily change with bedding.
Here is the corner today. I swap out the deer head print for the Boston map print.
These photos were all take today. The glass lamps are vintage and were a freebie. I bought the burlap shades from Target. One is smaller then the other so I placed it on books to give it height. The ram head shelves were $10 from a local auction house. The white owl vases are from TJmaxx and Michael's. I made the pom pom flowers. I also made the pillows using a soft linen fabric and printable transfer paper.
My desk in our room is in need of some help. I really don't use it except for throwing items on it that need a place to go or hiding my boots on it from the dog. My leather Timberland Savin Hill lace up boots were a gift to myself after Christmas. I bought them on Amazon for $120. I'm terrified to leave them anywhere. They are so comfortable and they have a zipper so you can easily put them on and take them off. Anyway the desk had all glass antique knobs but I took most of them off for another project and DLawlessHardware.com sent me the yellow glass knobs so I put them on the desk so it wouldn't be naked. I'm not 100% sure on keeping the desk in here but for now it stays and it could really use a paint job.
These photos are the before again...the desk is less cluttered and the lampshade fits the vintage owl lamp better. The one I have on it now is way to small but I took the burlap one and its being used on the chrome lamp in the sitting room. The lamp was also a find from the auction and $10. The chevron curtains were sewn by me. I bought the fabric from fabric.com. I think I paid $7 a yard. You can read more of the curtain rods I painted here.
I painted this dresser about three years ago or four I can't remember. I'm looking to replace it with a more modern one. The globe is vintage and one of my favorites.
Here is the settee was in, I moved the wingback chair I payed $5 for. I never finished adding nail head trim to the other side. I will share more about the stools another time.
Here was the before...with Zoey sleeping on the bed. The settee gets more use in the sitting room then it ever did in our bedroom. It mainly ended up being the spot to throw clothes on.
The dog has a temperpedic bed in the corner near the heat. She sleeps there every night. Those are the extra pillows that are just hanging on the floor.
Are you ready to see the before before?
The yellow color wasn't working out for the room. I wanted a neutral color that could last a long time. I ended up painting the room in Classic Gray by Benjamin Moore. Its not to dark and the color looks great all day long and night. It even makes the wood trim look better. Not as red toned as with the yellow. I would definitely recommend this color. I took the wall lights off and decided not to put them back up. You can see how the headboard looked before I reupholstered it.
I decided not to hang a lot on the walls...after all the filling the holes before repainting it. I'm always changing out decor....you never know what I might find. I still need to make new fabric shades for the window/door.
My favorite thing about the room is the paint color on the wall. I'm extremely happy with it. My least favorite is the ceiling fan. I want to take the light off but i'm struggling on how to do that. The light doesn't work and it would look better with out it.
The most amount of money and time was put into the painting and preparing.
So thats the master bedroom reveal. I'm glad to be finally sharing the room. Whats next? The kids bedrooms. There are a lot of projects on my to do list but I'd like to paint there rooms this spring. Also a major clean out would be nice.
