I'm still swooning over this desk makeover. It always amazes me what paint can do.
This secretary desk was given to me by my parents. They just recently moved to Maine and downsized there home. So many items had to go and I took as much furniture as I could. I actually had no intention of using this for my own. They actually had it refinished a long long time ago.
I think it looks so much better now. So bright and fun. I'm using it as a desk, workspace and drawing and watercolor painting area. Now that Harper is very mobile I have a safe place to work on my mac or draw up some designs while she plays near me.
I left the trim around the glass wood to give it a more farmhouse/cottage look.
I painted the desk in White Dove by Benjamin Moore in eggshell.
For the inside of the hutch part I painted using Mint Julep also by Benjamin Moore and the same color I used for Harper's dresser. For the inside on the desk I used a darker gray color that I can not remember the name and will add it when I find the can.
I'm trying to keep the inside of clutter free and have items I use in cute containers. I used a Johnson and Brothers pitcher for my colored pencils, a flower pot for my brushes, a can I covered in this darling fox paper ( also used inside the drawers of Harper's dresser ) the old handmade drawer had different knobs but I couldn't close the door so I changed them into these pulls.
I made this mini wall hanging for a pop of color and for motivation. I'm in the works of making some wall hangings for my etsy shop.
I found cute pencils, a mini binder, the things to do notepad in the dollar area at Target. They always have fun office supplies.
These yellow distressed knobs are from Hobby Lobby and I've been hoarding them for a while. I've used them on a few other pieces I've sold and they are a favorite.
The gold metal basket was another find from the dollar section at Target. I was hoping to use it inside the hutch but it was to big, so I placed in top and its holding my paint fandeck and cardstock color deck.
I couldn't find the photo I had of this hutch when it was in my parents house so all I had were these horriable photos taken in my workshop.
This desk works well in our master bedroom...its so great to be able to get some work done with out little miss Harper trying to grab my MacBook or papers.
I do want to get a better light that I can hang on the wall or on the side of the desk and pull close to the desk area. The light now was for when Harper's dresser was here. I'm thinking the RANARP wall/clamp from IKEA. I already want to get some lighting for Harper's nursery so I need to take a shopping trip soon.
I'm sharing this at
