IKEA Favorites

ikeafavorites-header.jpg

IKEA is one of my favorite places for shopping or just visiting for the day. Even my kids love to go with me. We also enjoy getting lunch at the restaurant.

I am sharing some of my favorites that I have bought form IKEA or similar items because some items I have are no longer available.

Rugs, are possibly my favorite finds from IKEA. They are good quality and they have many affordable options. Rugs can be so expensive especially if you need a large one. we have a similar black and white one in our living room and it cleans easily with my bissell rug cleaner. The other two are on my want list.

  3. VONSBÄK

We have had two of these AGEN Armchairs for a few years now and I love the way they look. I use cushions and pillows to make them comfy.

A few years ago we bought a new king mattress and this is the bed KOPARDAL we went with for it. I liked the modern metal look. Its a dark gray but could easy be spray painted. They no longer sell it in king unfortunately.

We have this KRISTALLER chandelier in out laundry room. I found it for a very low price in the as is section. Its small but very pretty.

We don’t own this BRUNSTA / HEMMA light yet but I have them on my want list for the hall way in our living room area.

We own the STOCKSUND sofa and you can read a review on that HERE. This sofa is the LANDSKRONA and I like this style and the legs. I want to eventually get new sofas for the living room and these are on my maybe list.

and last…this SUNDVIK crib we got for a gift when I was pregnant with Harper. Now Weston is using it and it has been a great crib. They do have more affordable options as well.

IKEA is also great for storage items, kitchen and dining items and curtains. I love how they sell curtains in a two pack.

What are your favorite items from IKEA?

Playroom Inspiration Board

playroominspirationheader.jpg

Today I am sharing some playroom inspiration. I really need a playroom in this house and we have a few areas we could have one so I came up with some inspiration boards to share some of the items I want or already have and would put in the playroom.

These are some tables and chair sets I adore. I like the modern round one but I like the idea of having a larger table for the kids to play or craft on. The ikea one is also a nice one except I’d paint the red parts a different color. I also had an idea of maybe cutting down a regular size table to be kid height.

Having a playroom or just anywhere it nice to have storage solutions for toys. We use a lot of these Y-Weave Basket Bin 11" - Room Essentials plastic bins for toys, Target offers a variety of sizes and I like them because you can easily wash them out. I also use them for my workspace to store craft and shipping supplies.

I also like LANGYASHAN Storage Bins for storing items like stuffed animals or dress up…they are also great for laundry.

I saw this neat Vandoona Toy Storage & Organization Mesh Bags and thought they would be great for storing small toys like legos. They are even washable.

Toy storage like this Tot Tutors Supersized Wood Toy Storage Organizer are another great way to organize toys like blocks and trains and books. I have been wanting one of these for a while.

A puzzle organizer would like this Melissa & Doug Multi-Fit Metal Wire Puzzle Rack is a great way to store them neatly.

Lastly we use these Large Plastic Storage Bin with Woven Handles for large heavy toys, like big trucks and odd shaped ones that don’t fit in smaller bins. These are under $8 and often go on sale.

These are some of the toys we have, the dollhouse, the grocery store is such a great toy and the kitchen set has been a favorite of Harpers for a few years now. I like the pillow bed idea for a comfy place to read books and you can buy already made covers online or easily sew some and add pillows. Lastly I would want a couch in the playroom for mama. A futon one like shown or a pull out bed one would be great for sleepovers.

  3. Teamson Kids - Chelsea Modern Wooden Kids Play Kitchen

  4. Butterfly Craze Kid's Floor Pillow Bed Cover

  5. Novogratz Convertible Pink Velvet Vintage Mid-Century Diamond-Tufted Split Back Fold Down Futon Couch

Decorating the playroom would be my favorite part. I would love a more farmhouse feel and this rug would be great. I would choose a light gray color like this one by Benjamin Moore. This light fixture I already have waiting to be used. Target does not sell them anymore but you can find them on Ebay and Mercari.

This wall mural is adorable and would be great in playroom and a chalkboard wall would be greta as well. Wall shelving for little decor or items not for little hands are great for a playroom and I love this horse print.

2. Benjamin Moores Distant Gray

3. Project 62 Leanne Large Pendant

4. Kids Wallpaper Soft World Map Wall Mural by Murwall

5. AVIGNON HOME Rustic Floating Wood Shelves 3-Tier

6. Black and White Horse Print by Lexie Greer Printables

I think a swing would be amazing in a playroom but not sure if the hubby would allow that.

What would you want in a playroom?

Sitting Room & IKEA's STOCKSUND Sofa Review

sitting-room-1.jpg

I wanted to share a little review on IKEA’s STOCKSUND sofa today.

I do not think they have this dark gray fabric cover anymore but a lighter version and some other designs.

We bought this sofa before Weston was born. In February 2018. We have had it for over a year now and we really like it. It is deep and comfortable and I like how you can remove the covers.

We had a smaller sofa here before and we are always in here so we went for a larger sofa and this one fit well in this space.

I did finally take the wall art off. I’m not sure if I will put it back up or do something different.

ikeacouch-3.jpg

Although I do not wash the covers often. it is a lot of work. I prefer to keep a blanket on top and vacuum the cushions and under them about once or twice a month. Sometime I just wash the bottom cushion covers. They take a long time to dry and they need to air dry.

My husband put the sofa together and it did not take him long at all.

The rug was purchased from Target online. I do regret buying it. It does not look like this anymore and you can not see the design at all and it looks matted down. The IKEA rugs I have held up better. Eventually I will be buying something better. You can find the rug here.

Here it is all put together for the first time. Harper was excited to test it out.

We ended up taking the tall shelf out and replacing it with a smaller, shorter one. The TV is now on the wall also.

sittingroomafterbaby-1.jpg

Here is real life after having a baby. It is much cleaner now minus the toys and books everywhere and we did get a ceiling fan for this space. You can see that post here.

We are very happy with this sofa. If you are on a tight budget and need a good sized comfortable sofa this is a great one. It is also nice to take naps on.

I will share another post on some updates on this space and about our new floors soon. I still need to finish the gallery wall by the TV and the area above the sofa.
