Sitting Room & IKEA's STOCKSUND Sofa Review

sitting-room-1.jpg

I wanted to share a little review on IKEA’s STOCKSUND sofa today.

I do not think they have this dark gray fabric cover anymore but a lighter version and some other designs.

We bought this sofa before Weston was born. In February 2018. We have had it for over a year now and we really like it. It is deep and comfortable and I like how you can remove the covers.

We had a smaller sofa here before and we are always in here so we went for a larger sofa and this one fit well in this space.

I did finally take the wall art off. I’m not sure if I will put it back up or do something different.

Although I do not wash the covers often. it is a lot of work. I prefer to keep a blanket on top and vacuum the cushions and under them about once or twice a month. Sometime I just wash the bottom cushion covers. They take a long time to dry and they need to air dry.

My husband put the sofa together and it did not take him long at all.

The rug was purchased from Target online. I do regret buying it. It does not look like this anymore and you can not see the design at all and it looks matted down. The IKEA rugs I have held up better. Eventually I will be buying something better. You can find the rug here.

Here it is all put together for the first time. Harper was excited to test it out.

We ended up taking the tall shelf out and replacing it with a smaller, shorter one. The TV is now on the wall also.

Here is real life after having a baby. It is much cleaner now minus the toys and books everywhere and we did get a ceiling fan for this space. You can see that post here.

We are very happy with this sofa. If you are on a tight budget and need a good sized comfortable sofa this is a great one. It is also nice to take naps on.

I will share another post on some updates on this space and about our new floors soon. I still need to finish the gallery wall by the TV and the area above the sofa.

Thank you for reading!

New Work Space With A Built In Desk

builtindesk-1

I am excited to share my new work/craft space! My space was down in the basement and although I had a huge room to myself and lots of storage I decided it would be better to have a space up here on the main floor. This way I can get work done ( sometimes ) while Harper and Weston are close by playing with there toys or watching a movie.

It’s not ideal for some to have this in the living room but it works for us. It could all be easily taken apart if we ever need to.

The desk top is my favorite part of this space. It was actually a nice kitchen table made in england. My hubby cut it down to size to fit and mounted it to the wall and to the cabinet. It was nice to use it for something since it was collecting dust in the basement.

I used daddy vans natural beeswax to coat the top for protection. I did not stain it.

The couch and shelf behind the sofa are a bit in the way for a picture.

The cabinet is a computer cabinet that we got for free years ago.

To the right you can see the kid craft area. Basically Harpers area to make a mess. I will share more about that area and the inside of the and before and after of the cabinet in another post.

before-office

Here is a before of the area…how cute is Weston playing with the airplane? We had the play kitchen in this corner when the Christmas tree was up but other then that I never had anything permeant in the space.

The most expensive item I bought for my workspace was the chair. I think I paid $90 for it on sale at our local Staples. I liked the color and I normally do not care for computer/office chairs but I did not mind this this one. I like that you can adjust for height and its pretty comfortable for working long periods of time.

The shelving is from Home Depot, the gold metal shelf to the right I found a year ago at Michales. The desk lamp was a freebie and I’m not sure were the scissor hanger is from. The wall organizer under the shelf was from Ikea ( they don’t carry this one anymore unfortunately ) but the white plastic bins they do have. The cart underneath is another Ikea find and I do not have anything in it yet because of Weston.

I have so much craft, sewing…etc stuff that I have not organized let. So far I am only keeping the items I use the most up here and still have to go through so much. I’m trying to keep everything neat and went with white bins to store items.

This wood organizer was a free find from maybe 4 years ago and I painted it in chalkboard paint. They have something similar at Ikea.

I need to get another square bin to put up top and I bought those at Target. They are also my favorite for storing toys because they are easy to clean. The other bins are from Ikea.

I am happy to blog more now and to start my etsy shop back up with new adventures. Although this new work area is not perfect or completely organized its my personal space for me.

Thank you for seeing my new space and stay tuned for the inside of the cabinet and the kid craft area.

April Finds

I recently went to my sister’s open studio in Elliot, Maine and along with her beautiful handmade ceramics she had other vendors selling goods like this watercolor print.

I fell in love with this print when I saw it on her instagram post about the event. So I had to get one. I still need to find the right frame for it. I was thinking a thin wood frame.

This print is by the artist Leah Bares from Violette Tide Studios

I also recently found this cute coolor tote at Target on clearance for $2.98. I love having these for baseball games, trips to the park or when I take the kids on a long drive.

I also picked up these mini pictures for my gallery wall in the kitchen/sitting area. I have been collecting small art to cover the wall around the tv.

These cute mini wall hangings were only a $1.80 at Target. They are magnetic and also can hold some faux flowers or maybe pencils.

My sister gifted this hanging planter to me. You can visit Elizabeth Benotti Ceramics to see all her handmade ceramics.

She gifted this to Weston for his first birthday and its so soft and she knows how much we love camping. This is by The Bee & The Fox.

and this super cute and large tea towel was also a gift. It would make a great wall hanging also! you can find these here at Hearth and Harrow

I am working on finishing my craft/workspace to share soon. I have more home projects in the works.

Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. You can find me on bloglovin but my blog does not appear on it for some reason I am still working on that.
