We love books in our house. I read to Harper and Weston every night just like i did with the older boys when they were younger. We have so many books…i keep a lot out for the them to look at during the day. Harper really enjoys looking through books. I also keep the ones I don’t want getting ripped or lost on the top shelf in their room.

we have many favorites but these ones I’m sharing today are ones I keep going back to. I know that will change but I wanted to share them.

This book Leaf by Sandra Dieckmann is really great. Beautiful illustration and the story is meaningful. My sister gave this book to Weston.

about this book - When a polar bear arrives unexpectedly in the woods, the animals fear and avoid him, suspecting him to be dangerous - and his habit of collecting leaves only adds to their distrust. Then one day, they watch as he attempts to fly over the water with wings made of colorful leaves...just trying to go home. - quoted from Amazon.

The Seven Silly Eaters by Mary Ann Hoberman and Illustrated by Marla Frazee is one of my favorite books to read to the kids. It is about a family that keeps growing and each child demands for a specific type of food and the illustration is amazing.

Dreamer by Il Sung Na is a inspirational story about perseverance. The story is wonderful and the illustration is really interesting. This book was given to Harper by my sister.

Even pigs can learn to fly: Once, there was a pig who admired birds. But he could never join them. Or could he? Thus begins the journey of a pig with big dreams, and the perseverance to make them come true. He develops flight plans, builds experimental contraptions, and has far-flung adventures, but at the end of the day, his favorite thing to do is sit and watch for those he loves best: birds. Il Sung Na creates a world at once whimsical and aspirational, where anything is possible and, yes, even pigs can learn to fly.

Another book we are enjoying is The Secret Of Black Rock by Joe Todd-Stanton my mom gave this book to Weston at his baby shower.

Erin loves to lie on the jetty, looking for the weirdest fish in the sea—the weirder, the better! And she knows the best ones must be further out, where her mum won't let her go...

Out there in the deepest sea lies the Black Rock: a huge, dark and spiky mass that is said to destroy any boats that come near it! Can Erin uncover the truth behind this mysterious legend?

Harper has really been enjoying seek and find books lately and this one ( we actually have two copies ) has amazing detail and of course we live near Boston so we just love it. On The Loose In Boston a find-the-animals book written and Illustrated by Sage Stossel.

Dream Animals A Bedtime Story by Emily Winfield Martin is a lovely bedtime story with gorgeous illustration. Harper really enjoys this book.

Ideal for bed time reading, Dream Animals convinces children to close their eyes and discover who their dream animal might be—a fox? a bear? a narwhal?—and what dream it might take them to. With a perfect nighttime rhyme and gorgeous illustrations, this book is irresistible.

Do you have a lot of books in your house? Which ones are your favorites to read to your kids?

I think it is really important that we and our kids still read or look at books. Especially now a days with all the electronics the kids are into.

My Must Have Baby Products

momlifelogo.jpg

Today I am sharing some of my favorite baby products that we used with Weston. If you are new here Weston was born on March 13th, 2018. He is almost 17 months old now. I also have a 4 year old daughter, 15 year old son and a 18, almost 16 and almost 13 year old step sons. I have used many baby products in the past.

The stroller system I bought was this The Evenflo Pivot Modular Travel System. I really like how it turned from a bassinet style to regular seat. Plus having the infant car seat that easily clicks into the stroller is ideal when going in and out of places. They even have a newer style out that does more then this one Evenflo Pivot Expand.

Here is Weston at just a week old going for blood work in the car seat in the stroller…poor little guy had to get so much blood taken with in his first two weeks of life. He had jaundice and it took him a while to get to normal results.

He was so tiny.

diaperbackpack-1.jpg

This Diaper Bag Backpack by HYBLOM was the best diaper bag I have ever used. This one is waterproof with durable 12 compartment pockets. I never used a backpack style and I regret that after using one for the first time. It is so much easier to carry around and a baby. Plus you can attach it to the stroller. Giving you more space in the storage baskets.

babybouncer-1.jpg

A simple Fisher-Price Bouncy Seat is the way to go. He loved this one shown in the picture and a similar design is this Fisher-Price Deluxe Bouncer. Easy to move around and easy to clean.

A baby wrap is amazing if you want to get stuff done around the house, go for walks or just to go grocery shopping. This is the one I purchased and I really liked it until Weston was bigger then we would use the Ergo Baby Carrier. This wrap is the Baby Wrap Carrier for Newborn and Infant ( in the Dark Grey Heather color is what I picked ) by Cutie Carry. Very affordable and youtube is a great place to watch how to videos on using wraps.

This VAVA Night Light is rechargeable and has different brightness setting with just a tap to the top. Great for night time changes or feedings. Also great for travel. We still use it at night for reading books before bed so I don’t have to turn on the bright light.

After we started baby food we used this Boon Pulp Feeder. Its a great way to add fresh fruit or cooked veggies and they just get the juices and pulp from it and so much easier to clean then the mesh ones. Frozen fruit is great for teething.

A simple diaper caddy to have next to your changing table or to move around to any room you need it in is very helpful. This is the one I used, Diaper Caddy Organizer and it came with a large changing pad and pacifier clips.

I also take this with me when we travel from home and keep it on the floor in the back east.

Lastly a car seat/stroller cover that is light and breathable are great for keeping the sun out or anyone who might want to touch your sweet little baby when your out and about. This one I purchased is no longer in stock but this Premium Soft, Stretchy, and Spacious 4 and 1 by Pobibaby is really cute.

Some other favorites is the Marpac Dohm Sound Machine, a must have when you have older kids and a dog in the house. A Fisher-Price Jumperoo when they are ready, a Philips Avent Fast Baby Bottle Warmer to warm up bottles, Dr. Brown’s Original Bottles are what we used when he was a infant and sleep sacks are the best invention ever. I used many different ones but a regular one when they like having there arms free are the best. This Touched By Nature Baby Organic Cotton one is what we are using currently since its lightweight for summer.

I always find it helpful when parents share there favorite must have items for babies, it can always be stressful when trying to figure out what you need.

June Beauty FavorItes

momlifelogo

Welcome to my first post on MomLIFE. I really enjoy being a mom and I also like skincare and beauty products. I wanted a different place to share my favorites or share baby and kid items or just updates about my kids. I want to keep it separate from my creative side.

Today I am sharing some of my new and favorite products.

I am always looking for a good sunscreen that works well under make up or alone and so far I like this Clinique Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Fluid For Face. It is a nice light sunscreen.

When I purchased some products a while ago I received a sample pack which included this ST.Tropez Self Tan Purity Bronzing Water Face Mist and the regular self tanner. The face mist works great on my skin. It gives a nice light tan and glow. I find it works great after exfoliating and using my normal skincare routine. The regular self tanner did not do much for me.

I just picked up this Clinique sun-kissed face gelee recently and I have mixed it with foundations and worn alone. It is a nice liquid bronzer that has no glitter in it. It adds a nice subtle tan and is easy to use.

I wanted to share my favorite foundation that works well for me and it is Too Faced Born This Way Foundation and I have tried many. It helps hide my redness but not completely. It looks most natural on me as long as i moisturized well before.

These are some newer products I have been trying out. The IT Cosmetics CC cream I have been liking. I like this on sunny days and I know I will be outside. I does not last on me all day, apply with a brush and a little goes along way.

The Benefit Boi-ing Industrial Strength Concealer is okay. It applies nicely but it doesn’t cover much for me but works well as eyeshadow primer.

I got the ILIA Fade Into You Soft Focus Finishing Power is my new favorite powder. This one is a sample size that I got in a clean Sephora bag and I really like it. I use it light over my foundation and concealer.

Concealers for my under eye are either drying or just look terrible and I thought I would give NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer a try. I picked up the sample size in the lightest shade and so far I really like it. It works great with the Too Faced foundation.

And last I just started using this Benefit Precisely, MY Brow Pencil and I like it better then the drug store one I was using. It goes on smoother and looks natural for me.

When trying new products, especially higher end ones I like buying travel sizes or getting special value buys from Sephora or Ulta. I also like to save my travel or sample size bottles that I can refill with the bigger products or traveling or keeping in my bag.

Thank you for reading about my June favorites. Please stop by and check out my other blog Simple Home Life blog.
