Favorite Children's books

We love books in our house. I read to Harper and Weston every night just like i did with the older boys when they were younger. We have so many books…i keep a lot out for the them to look at during the day. Harper really enjoys looking through books. I also keep the ones I don’t want getting ripped or lost on the top shelf in their room.

we have many favorites but these ones I’m sharing today are ones I keep going back to. I know that will change but I wanted to share them.

This book Leaf by Sandra Dieckmann is really great. Beautiful illustration and the story is meaningful. My sister gave this book to Weston.

about this book - When a polar bear arrives unexpectedly in the woods, the animals fear and avoid him, suspecting him to be dangerous - and his habit of collecting leaves only adds to their distrust. Then one day, they watch as he attempts to fly over the water with wings made of colorful leaves...just trying to go home. - quoted from Amazon.

The Seven Silly Eaters by Mary Ann Hoberman and Illustrated by Marla Frazee is one of my favorite books to read to the kids. It is about a family that keeps growing and each child demands for a specific type of food and the illustration is amazing.

Dreamer by Il Sung Na is a inspirational story about perseverance. The story is wonderful and the illustration is really interesting. This book was given to Harper by my sister.

Even pigs can learn to fly: Once, there was a pig who admired birds. But he could never join them. Or could he? Thus begins the journey of a pig with big dreams, and the perseverance to make them come true. He develops flight plans, builds experimental contraptions, and has far-flung adventures, but at the end of the day, his favorite thing to do is sit and watch for those he loves best: birds. Il Sung Na creates a world at once whimsical and aspirational, where anything is possible and, yes, even pigs can learn to fly.

Another book we are enjoying is The Secret Of Black Rock by Joe Todd-Stanton my mom gave this book to Weston at his baby shower.

Erin loves to lie on the jetty, looking for the weirdest fish in the sea—the weirder, the better! And she knows the best ones must be further out, where her mum won't let her go...

Out there in the deepest sea lies the Black Rock: a huge, dark and spiky mass that is said to destroy any boats that come near it! Can Erin uncover the truth behind this mysterious legend?

Harper has really been enjoying seek and find books lately and this one ( we actually have two copies ) has amazing detail and of course we live near Boston so we just love it. On The Loose In Boston a find-the-animals book written and Illustrated by Sage Stossel.

Dream Animals A Bedtime Story by Emily Winfield Martin is a lovely bedtime story with gorgeous illustration. Harper really enjoys this book.

Ideal for bed time reading, Dream Animals convinces children to close their eyes and discover who their dream animal might be—a fox? a bear? a narwhal?—and what dream it might take them to. With a perfect nighttime rhyme and gorgeous illustrations, this book is irresistible.

Do you have a lot of books in your house? Which ones are your favorites to read to your kids?

I think it is really important that we and our kids still read or look at books. Especially now a days with all the electronics the kids are into.
