On To The Furniture...

So I've decided my project Organize is going to be put on hold, or shall I say I'll do it when I have time.
I really do want to clean and organize my home but I dont really want to put all my effort into it. I want to be able to do it when ever I can.

What I really need to be doing is working on furniture, I have so many pieces down stairs and more coming in and I really enjoy working on them and I need to focus on the flea market this summer and posting on craigslist to sell my lovely finds.

Here is a nightstand I'm almost done with, just picked up the pretty glass knob today for it, it only needs one more coat of finishing wax.

This is a very old nightstand
I love how the top had curvyness to it.

Here is a peek of a modern dresser I'm working on

It also has cute legs but I haven't attached them yet.
My guy brought me home a retro side table and the legs are broken off so I'm thinking metal legs or casters.

Now I'm off to work

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

Laundry rooms and cute wallpaper

So this week is working on my laundry room and updating it a bit. I was even thinking of painting it, I have a lovely light blue gallon of paint I picked up a month ago for $5 in the opps section at the depot. I haven't even open it so maybe I should just use it for the room.

My laundry room needs organization and a major clean out of items I dont use, which my family is doing a big yardsale soon and I'm hoping to get rid of a lot of stuff.

I have a small laundry room so it really needs to be simple and clean looking, there are no windows as well so new lighting is a must. I do love the look of a chandelier, but anything pretty will do.

I found this on this website called fine home building, although my laundry room isn't that small this is a perfect idea for others out there looking to find a neat solution to easily hide there washer, dryer and cleaning supplies.

I do love this blue tone laundry room and look at the light fixture. I found this on cameras and chaos

and this is a fun laundry room
I cant wait to get front loaders someday. Look at the wallpaper it really looks all put together.

Speaking of wallpaper I love this one company called hermitage is a home.

this is my favorite
there's 2 choices
they really do look like wood, and I see a lot of creativeness with this wallpaper being used on furniture. Its very expensive.

I also saw this on there site
tile wallpaper, they have a few choices and it really does look like tile, that's why there wallpaper is pricey because of its quality.

Urban Outfitter's and Anthropologie have a nice selection of very interesting and pretty wallpaper, prices vary but some are a decent price.

the pictures are a bit fuzzy.

I have never used wallpaper, but I think on a accent wall it can look lovely, I could totally see my tall living room wall with the wood wallpaper.
with dark wooden floors of course!

Have you used wallpaper or would you give it a try?

Project: Get Organize and Get Simple week {2}

Time again for my Get organize and get simple project update, although I did a lot of little things around my kitchen there is a lot more I want to do.

I also worked on my pallet cube wall shelf and well that didn't work out so well. I was almost done building it and wanted to show my guy and he came and looked and tried lifting it up and said its to heavy! I was not happy, and couldn't believe I didn't realize it was to heavy.....ugh. So we took the hand saw and cut were it was attached and made two small cube wall shelves.

He said he could get me some different kind of wood that is rough like pallet wood and much lighter. See the pallets I used ,the wood is oak and its heavy but I didn't think it would get that heavy. Now I'm not sure if I'm going to just get the wood hes talking about and make a new one and use the ones I just made for something else because I did put a lot of work into it. So I was hoping to have it done but oh well, not everything can work out I guess, but I will post how I made then later this week. If I decide to build a different one with different materials I will defiantly post that as well.

Now lets get to my organizing and cleaning in kitchen
If you want to see week 1 click here

The first thing I did was making a organizer for the utensils
just using scrap wood sitting around the workshop and sample paint.
I was using a plastic one from Ikea and it was broken and everything was overflowing and getting mixed together.

I measured and went down to my workshop and cut my pieces of scrap wood, then I ran back upstairs made sure it would all fit and went back downstairs and nailed it together.

Then I painted it with some sample paint I had on hand and while that was drying I cleaned out the drawer lined it with some canvas fabric, I plan on doing something different for the liner, I cant stand the contact paper though, its to much work and it attracts bugs...eww.

I used a light blue paint
Now the forks cant spill over into the spoons. I want to do this to a few other drawers, and make those sliding trays to hold the pots and pans so i can just pull it out and get what I want instead of digging for it.

I cleaned out my pantry and tried to organize it, we just have way to much in there.

I bought these metal bins on clearance at Target and have one for the bread and one for the chips. I printed tags of this page creature comforts blog and cut them out, then used laminating sheets to laminate them. I found small rings from my beading stash and attached them to the bins.

My next area was the cabinet with all the dishes

When I went to Ikea last week I picked up a shelf for $1.99 and brackets at 50 cents each. I wanted to see if I could get the shelf into the cabinet to hold plates, and it fit perfectly.

here it is before
 {minus the clean dishes in the dishwasher}
and after

The shelf is a dark wood look so I lighten it up with simple paper from my collection of scrapbook paper.

I did however forget to take the stickers of the brackets.

I'd like to paint the inside of the cabinets also.  For now some canvas fabric to lighten it up.

I de-cluttered the counter top a little bit, we dont have a lot of cabinet space so some things need to be left out.

My magnetic knife holder is my favorite thing, I got a lot of more space when I bought it, and got rid of the block knife holders. I picked up the spice rack from Ikea as well, it holds the everyday salt and pepper and a few other spices we use a lot.

I moved my small cookbooks and placed them on top of my pantry along with this cute hand painted box I picked up at Homegoods to hold my recipes.

I hope to add some more cookbooks
The bookend is from Ikea

my favorite cutting board is also from Ikea, $9.99

and this I picked up at Michaels on sale and its now holding random papers and magazines.

Well That is it, I love my organizer I made for the utensils, it didn't even cost me anything, but I do want to make the pull outs for the cabinets.

This week room is my laundry room

I really need to organize this room, I also need to get rid of towels, and napkins not being used and just make it more simple.

So I will be busy do that this week and the kids are home for April vacation.
Tomorrow I need to get outside and clean out my garden, then the the 3 big boys have baseball games. Busy day.

Project: Get organized and Simple {Kitchen Organizing Ideas}

I was doing some research for a new project idea that includes pallets

 lucky for me theirs a local company needing to get rid of them

Hopefully I can get them this week.

I drew up my design already and did measurements, I'd like to make something like this

{pottery barn}
Except bigger cubes to fit my stuff. I want to take down the Ikea shelves in my breakfast nook and put up something that feels more warm and I had a idea of something looking rustic and old and with pallets you can do that.
I think I's even try the number labels.

I also found this
{pottery barn}
Although this is made of metal, I like the back of it, I think putting chicken wire on the back would be interesting.

I love this, I think this is resting on counter top, not sure were I found it either, I just search for images in Google.

My other big thing with our kitchen that I cant stand is the drawers, we really need to make them like this inside

This is a drawer organizer you can buy, I think I'd build them in, it would be cheap and easy as long as you measure right, which sometimes I'm not so good at that.

Here are a few other images that caught my eye when searching for kitchen organize solutions.

If this was my kitchen I dont think I'd want the kids near the shelves.

I wish I had a pantry like this!

I actually like this metal shelve unit for the kitchen, ex-specially with the white dishes.
Speaking of dishes, we need new ones, most of them are chipped,
I wouldn't mind a set of these

plates to eat a slice of chocolate cake on, or these for dinner
they are so adorable, these plates are from Anthropologie. So not affordable for me. But what if I made my own look on simple white plates? I've never painted on plates before, or maybe I did in middle school, but I've been thinking that would also be a great idea.

So thats it for some of my ideas for my kitchen organizing and what not, hope everyone have a wonderful day!

Dont forget to spread the word on my

Project: Get Organize and Get Simple week {1}

Today I start my new project, a project that I'm not very good at but I need to be and its now spring and its time to get organize and simple.

Every Monday starting today I share with you what room I'm tackling and then on the next Monday I will give updates on that room and start a new room.
I want to have my house organize and simple by June 1st, this way I can enjoy my summer months with the kids and the dog and maybe also be able to find those things I can never find.

I've been planning this project for that past couple of weeks and I though I will get it done if I promise to show my blogging friends.

Maybe you guys will want to get motivated on cleaning and organizing your homes.

So this week my room is my Kitchen, the outside is pretty organize, but its whats inside the cabinets that not.

{ I do need to de-cluttered the counter top}

Organize the plates/bowl cabinet, get rid of some chipped plates and get some new plate as well.

and the pantry needs some organize solutions

So next Monday I will post pictures of what I've done to organize the kitchen.

What part of your home do you want to start organizing first?

looking for my Giveaway?

Monday monday #2

I had a wonderful busy weekend, I had a great first link party....thanks to all of you who linked up your creations, and for all my new following friends.
Pallet Table:
I know I promised my finished pallet sofa table that I showed you on Friday here, but its been a rainy day and no sunlight and I really need that to get great photos. Hopefully tomorrow I can get the shots. I will however give you a sneak peak.

I went with a Minwax Water base Stain is Slate
I'm also using Minwax polycrylic protective finish which I'm adding another coat tonight.
I've never used these products, I've only used the oil based stain and protective finishes. I did love that its super easy to clean of the brushes, with the oil base stuff you have to clean it in paint thinner and that can be a pain. I've been told that the water base isn't as durable as oil.

More on my Pallet Sofa table tomorrow...I will try
Pallet Crate:
Here is another project I started....I know I should finished one before I start a new one but that's just not me.

Its going to be a rustic crate on wheels for storage under the new table, and its made out of pallets.
I made sure I took photos on how I built this, I need to sand, add some detail and put the wheels on tomorrow. So another post of this later.

New Art:
Cute New art for my Kitchen....printed onto 8 by 10 photo paper, picture found online

I did buy anything this weekend...oh wait except for the stain but other then that nothing. I sure am having fun building things out of pallets, I can't wait to get more and better gloves because it is not easy pulling them apart.
