Boys Bathroom Stenciling Done

I finished stenciling the boys bathroom. Remember when I did the Cutting Edge stencil giveaway? I mention they gave me my choice of stencil.

I picked this one
They also gave me a foam roller

and a clip on stencil level

I chose to keep the colors light and simple, I used a light green for the base of my stencil and a light gray in satin for the top coat. I also used that same gray for the rest of the bathroom. Its not easy to take photos of this bathroom or get good images of the stenciling.

Before it was a plain white color on the walls

another before and after
there is more to be done in this bathroom, but I'm glad to get coats of satin paint on. Its so easy to clean.

The stenciling
The stenciling wasn't so difficult it was getting it finished before the boys came home.
Having the level helped keep it straight.

stenciling before and after

The stencils from Cutting Edge Stencils are durable and easy to use. I love that it came with the full wall stencil, a single stencil and a top stencil for the ceiling.

The instructions were easy to read and follow.
They are also easy to clean. I had to rinse the wall stencil in the tub but the paint comes of easy.
I just used lots of blue tape to adhere the stencil to the wall.
The stencil level is a must to keep a geometrical pattern even. Your first stencil on the wall has to be even to assure the whole wall will be.

Now that the stenciling is done, the wall is painted I just need to paint the tiny wall between the doorways and the stencil wall.

my guy decided to paint the doors and never finished the rest, this is why painting should only be done by me
Anyway I need to fix the drawers in there cabinet.  Give the cabinet a paint job and new hardware. Unfortunately a new counter-top is not in our budget right now. They need a new sink facet as well.

A new light fixture and a frame around the mirror.
Then I need to work on the tub side.

That will happen soon.

But for now its almost complete and I'm hoping to finish things up so I can finish my other projects around the house.

Thank you Cutting Edge Stencils for giving me this fantastic stencil to review.
I'll defiantly be wanting to try the craft size for furniture.

I'll be sharing this at link parties, click here to see which ones I attend

How I built my shelf made from pallets

This wont be the best tutorial, not the best photos either.

I also will tell you the way it looks in my bathroom now is not how I wanted to built it.

I took apart some pallets. I took the nails out and washed the wood down. Then I brought it to my workshop and sanded the boards down.

I drew up my plans days before, so I just needed to measure the wood and make my marks then I cut using my miter saw.

I did not take a photo when I firs started putting it together, its not easy remembering to take photos while building. Now I have my tripod it will be easier.

I used the nail gun and glue for attaching the pieces together.

This is after I put the first layer together. I was going for a wider cube shelf and I'll tell you why it didn't work out later.

putting the corners together was easy.

I was going for the spaced apart look on purpose.

please pardon my cluttered background.
I attached the small pieces of wood to hold the shelf boards while nailing, eventually I can take them out.

I attached my first board for the cube shelves and nailed on the outside.
Then added the middle pieces to make it cube.......I was really going for this vintage/farmhouse cube shelf for the kitchen.
Anyway
Nailed on the top and bottom,
Nailed in more pieces for the sides.
The hard part was doing the middle shelving which I regret not having photos, but you basically have to nail the middle pieces for the cube shelving at a angle, without going through the wood.

So this is were I was when I was so thrilled with my so far project I made my guy come down to look at it.

He looked at it, and within one minuet he said it looks to heavy.

He was right, it was really heavy. Why....because the pallet wood was all oak, and its heavy. So I ended it up cutting it in half which was easy and finished the top shelving and that was it,.
Now I have two of them, not sure what I will do with the other one yet.

But I do like having one in the bathroom, the blank wall was getting boring.
I didn't use any kind of finish, just sanded the wood and left it as is.

I added it more decor and change it around a bit since these photos.

So I hope you enjoyed my not so good of a tutorial.

I promise to take more photos when building.

Monday: updates

Saturday was a lazy day for me, I watched movies all day pretty much and sat on the couch, why? Because I had either a bad cold or bad allergies, today I feel a little bit better but stuffy and my son is home sick also.

I hope all you mothers out there had a lovely Mother's Day. I received cute cards and gifts from all the boys and dragged myself out to Target and bought myself a few things.

I have way to many projects I'm working on but not much to show since they all have something that needs to be done before I take photos, I did make a cute pillow that I'll post later.

I did finally get my guy to pick up some wood to fix a dresser drawer so I can finish painting it. He also brought me a very long and wide, almost a full size bed pallet! I have plans for that.

I want to show you the simple rug I got for our bathroom that I picked up at Homegoods for $12

I'm also working on some art for out half bathroom and I found some photos are old cameras, would it be weird to put photos of cameras in a bathroom?

The half bathroom is done!

I finally finished the half bathroom. I'm very happy about the color. It is a dark color but I was going for a bold statement in that room since no one is in there for very long. After fixing all the holes and priming it I picked out a different color then what i planned on getting. I ended up with "Timothy Straw" by Benjamin Moore. My camera makes a weird light on the wall.

I finally found old pictures of our half bath and wanted to post them so you could see what it did look like before.

We need to lower the mirror a bit.
