The Dining Room and A Couch In The Kitchen?

It feels like its Saturday...only because the kids had the day off from school. I cleaned and organized most off the day.

I removed the extra leaf today from the dining room table, there is so much more space now.

not the very best picture....its been cloudy and rainy all day.

My plans are to paint the table. The table was a free find and beat up when we got it. The dining room feels to formal for me and I want to make it more cozy. I've ruin the top even more with my clay and fabric glue...oops.

I do not want to paint the chairs. Those chairs took me a long time to restore and I like them the way they are. The table i do not care so much about but I think a creamy white will look nice.
I'd also love to have upholstered chairs for the ends to help create this cozy look.

I was thinking about turning our breakfast nook into a sitting area and the dining room would be where we eat all the time. We never use the space unless for parties or my crafts and I feel like its a waste of space. We really could use another sitting area to hang out. Plus we have the island and I would only need one stool and the kids could eat breakfast and lunch there if they want to.

Here is a peak of the colors on the nightstand....I'm not done yet but the color inside is a light gray it does look a bit purple in this photo.

I'm also preparing this small sofa table? I'm not sure what to call it yet but its old and the leg needs fixing.

Have a great weekend...I'm off to finish a few things and relax...the kids are at grammas tonight.

Mirrors On The Door

I love mirrors, and how they can make a room feel brighter.

These little mirrors I bought just a weekend ago for $4.98 for 4 defiantly help brighten up our mudroom.

These mirrors are not made of wood ( we found this out the hard way ) they are plastic.

I gave them a few coats of white paint.

We used a construction quality doubled sided tape, and it works very well. Plus you can remove them if we need to.

Unfortunately we couldn't fit all of them. I didn't want them that close together and the door knob was in the way for adding the other 2 mirrors.

I'm very happy with the way it turned out.

and check out my little fan I bought for a $1.49 at Target

Driftwood shelf

I have always wanted to have a piece of driftwood, well I was in luck at Lake Erie because along the beach there were tons of driftwood.

I found this small piece that had a flat back and new it would be perfect to hold small frames.

All I did was drill holes and add this hardware to hang

This was free natural art.

We also collected beautiful rocks and small pieces of driftwood, I just need to find the place to hold them, I was also thinking frames without glass and gluing the rocks to them.

In The Mood For Blue

Some lovely pictures with one of my favorite colors in them that I wanted to share with you.

I really love this room, the white walls and the light from Ikea and the mismatched chairs, but the distressed blue table is my favorite part.

Warm wood tones mixed with a nice shade of blue and white.

There are cute framed chalkboards hanging on the chairs...cute idea!

I like the mix of colors in this photo, the floors are also very nice.

Love how the blue pops...and the stack of books.

I like this shade of blue on the console and the wall art.

This seems like a great wedding set up, very different.

I heart this photo....the beautiful piece of furniture reminds me of a old ice box, not sure what it is though.

I thought this was a great color scheme for a summer party

Love all the white and blue and hints of yellow!

I'm working on my something blue, almost done.

What to do with a old electric chandelier?

Well with my old non-working electric chandelier

I turned it into

A candle chandelier!

I have had this chandelier sitting in my garage for a long time now, my mother gave it to me thinking I'd put it in the dining room but it was old and didn't work and I ended up using something different.

One day I looked at it and pulled it out of the mess and wanted to see if the light bulb holders? Could come off easily and they did.

I pulled them all off and cut the wires.

Then I hung it on a bungee cord to a tree to spray paint it, I used a primer first, then a glossy white and did about 3 coats, it wasn't easy getting the small arms.

I bought a 40lb ceiling hook and it was easy to instal and hung the chandelier with a new chain I also bought from Lowes.

The candles I picked up from Ikea yesterday, I used my hot glue gun to make sure they would stay in snug.

I always wanted a candle chandelier over my bathtub!

I love how it makes the bathroom a little bit more fun now!

I do wish the sun were out for better photos, but I couldn't wait to share my makeover!

This project cost me less then $20!

I'll be linking these to some great blogs! Check out my party list here.

Vintage fabric and other finds

Yesterday I realized when I posted the Follow along that was my 100th post! I'm pretty excited....now I just need to get the 100 followers so I can do my first Giveaway

So on with the vintage fabric and other finds, last night my other half's mother (lets just say feature Mother In-law) called me and told me to come down and check out some fabric she got from a auction. So I did and came home with a box full and most of it is from the 60's,70's we think anyway.

This is what I took

I love this one

This one is very flower power but I'm sure I'll find a use out of it

This fabric is soft, great for a blanket.

Found this apron....I thought it was to cute to pass

I also found this table cloth in a simple linen

Some lace and ruffled trim

my favorite thing that I found in the there basement
are these

They have never been used and they are old and made in Connecticut! They were so kind to give them to me.

Saturday I picked these cute Kitchen towels for $3

and yesterday at Joann's craft store I picked these up
at 70% off, I love the orange hues.

Today I'm working on my pillow cover, and a project from wood pallets and my dresser (waiting on clamps from the hunny) to get that finished.

What did you work on today?
Did you guys find any great buys this weekend? Or today?
