Laundry Room Organizing

Recently the laundry room has gone out of control. I've been so busy with custom painting, Etsy stuff, the kids and getting sick that poor room has been neglected.

I started tackling it and decided it could still use some help with organizing and I found some inspirational photos that I defiantly would like to have happen in this room.

Although it had a makeover and we bought a beautiful pair of front-loaders its still not complete.

I really want to either have my guy build a base underneath to lift the washer and dryer up and place a piece of wood counter-top on to make it look nicer.

Or skip the counter-top and make the base larger to fit baskets

I was also thinking we can place the dryer on top of the washer and make more space like this

I need a a bar in the room like this, I have plenty of dowels in my studio for this.

I also need some help with organizing my cleaning items like this.

I like this also

a cute jar like this for all the lovely items I find in the laundry....

Stain remover all in one place

this is a must!

Spring is right around the corner...a.re you thinking of areas that need organizing? I have a few areas in need.

Laundry Room Lighting

Remember I bought this light fixture from Ikea?

I paid under $20 for it in the as-is section

My guy finally put it up!

I took different photos with my camera so I could show you what it looks like.
It is very bright and I needed that for this room.

We did however have to change the fixture a bit to make sure it wasn't to long.
I knew we could do it because I saw over at the House Of Smiths that they did it to there light.

I do believe my laundry room is the most glamorous room in the house now.

I'm in love with it now! It was a surprise also when I came home from the yard-sale I went to get my net-book which was sitting in the laundry room and I turned the light on but it wasn't working so when I looked up I saw my new light. He didn't know I had the bulbs on stock.

I wish I could get photos of it with natural light but unfortunately this is the dark hall in the house.

When somthing fails you might have to buy new!

For the past week our washing machine has been slowly dying. It wasn't draining, then the spinner died and my guy couldn't fix it. It was also very old.

So it was time for a new one!

I always wanted a front loader and we finally have an excuse to get one so we did.

Meet my new babies

I think I might enjoy doing laundry now.....maybe.

We have a credit card through Best Buy and they had no Interest for 2 years and we are every good about paying things off before the promotion ends so we searched on there website and I found these.

They are the LG  SteamWasher 3.9 Cu. Ft. 12-Cycle Extra-Large Capacity Steam Washer in Graphite Steel and the LG  7.4 Cu. Ft. 12-Cycle Ultralarge Capacity Steam Electric Dryer. I wanted the steam ones because I read they are better at washing clothes that get very dirty, like my guy who gets his clothes filthy from work and of course the boys!

I got them on sale of course and saved about $400 on each.

The best part was I picked them out online, bought them online and since they didnt have them at the local store they had a pick up at warehouse option and lucky for us there warehouse in about 10 minutes down the street!

There already in and I started y first load so I'm excited to see how good they work and especially how fast the dryer is!

There are a lot of buttons, I read the instruction manual thoroughly before using it.

These are so much nicer then my old ones

and very quiet.

My guy also said he can build a built in for the washer and dryer to go on and put a counter top on. That is the only thing I dont like about these because they are very low to the grown. I think they do it on purpose to make you want to buy those pedestals but they are not worth the price.

I'm also trying to get him to put my new light up tomorrow!

Well I'm off to do more laundry. Have a great weekend and holiday!

Laundry Room Revamp

Well I reached my goal today, which was to finish the laundry room, clean it and put everything back and take photos.

The only thing not done is my light fixture and someway of hiding the cords, if you have a great idea on that help me out.....its not a pretty sight to see those chunky cords and outlets.

You can see my old post on my laundry room here

Here is a before and after

and the other side

On a whim I decided to paint my laundry room, having a few gallons of different colors sitting in the basement I thought I should just use one of those instead of buying anymore paint.
I had a blue oops paint, it has no name but for $5 from the depot I figured I could make it look good?

And yes my dryer is taller then my washing machine, the matching one is still in the garage awaiting to be with its brother. Who knows when that will happen.

Previously I made those curtains for the shelves to hide the clutter but I might change them because now it seems to be to much blue.
I added the bright red mirror to add the pop of a fun color and you can see my post on that here.

On to the stripes
I never painted stripes on a wall before and always intrigued by other striped walls so I thought I'd give it a shot in here, plus the wall is so small it wouldn't take a lot of time. It wasn't tough at all, I took my long leveler and a pencil and traced lines, I made the blue stripes wider then the white.
Did I mention I painted my whole laundry room in one day? I just touched up the white on the next day.

On to the little things
since this was on the blue strip I decided to paint it to match and not just because I accidentally painted on it but thought it was a pretty good idea. I also took the hardware out and place them on to  cardboard box by screwing in the hardware and spray painted with a blue that kind of matched, we had it on hand.

I use it to hold my cleaning stuff
my sorting hampers and the drying rack I bought from Ikea a long time ago, I use it all the time, now they only sell it in white metal.

This shelf was added in between the shelves a while ago and I painted it in Aqua smoke by behr and the inside of the shelves.
Some simple art with yellow hues and clearance frames that were $1.99

I painted them in a sample size Sharkey Gray by Martha Stewart paints.

I picked up these canisters for cheap at Walmart. I bought the letter stickers at the craft store on clearance for .99 cents. The clean canister is holding laundry baking soda, it really does help clean the clothes better when added to detergent.
Do you see the cute trim? I picked that up at the craft store and used the nail gun to add it to the bottom of the shelves and painted it white.

W= washing
I picked up the letter at the Restoration Hardware outlet store of $1.29, yeah it was originally $17. I found it in the kids section it was pink and brown.
here is a picture after I primed it.

this fabric is hiding this
Great for storage and cheap
This is why I made curtains, but I really thing 2 panels for each shelf would be better.
So that's it for now...I cant wait till I get to share my light fixture....if it works out

Project: Get Organize and Get Simple week {3}

I was suppose to be done with the laundry room but I still have a few things to do, so this week I'm still going to be working on the laundry room, we have a baseball game tonight for 2 boys and a practice for 1. I also have several other things that need to be done.

I do want to show you a little bit of what I did in the laundry room.

I painted it, yep I know I'm suppose to be organizing but I decided to paint it as well. I had a gallon of oops paint that I figured I might as well use it to paint the laundry room. Then when I was painting I thought I should do stripes, so I did stripes on one side of the laundry room.

I painted this to match also.
I cant show everything today, but I will hopefully get it all finished by the week. I'll explain how I painted the stripes and the hooks as well.

I also need to start using the laundry room before the clothes pile up.

Hope everyone has a lovely day, and dont forget about my link party.

Our Laundry room

Our Laundry room...needs a redo soon
We have a small laundry room but I wont complain because its on the first floor, I wanted to share photos of the room because eventually I will put a coat of paint on the walls and maybe add some more shelving and make it more organized.

This is what it looks like when you walk in
The dryer sticks out a little bit

I have these cabinets with no doors on each side on the top of the washer and laundry machines. They always get clutter so I made these curtains for them and used the curtains rod I previously bought for the dining room but they were to small for the curtains.
I didn't have enough fabric to make two panels for each.

Theirs space in between and I would like to have another shelf so I could fit the laundry baskets were I put the kids folded clothes.

The inside
This is my neater side, and I painted the inside with sample paint I had not to long ago to brighten it up.

Dont mind the mess I know I should of clean it off first but these are the best, the drying racks came from Ikea and I can hang a lot to dry, I like to let my clothes hang dry.
My kitchen rug is in here until I finish the table.

I use sorting baskets for dark's, whites and colors. I'd like to get nicer ones.

and a coat rack to hang the broom, mop and etc..

Here are some laundry rooms I like

If I had the space I would do this, I could wash a lot of clothes and hang out
