Our Master Bathroom {update}

Its been almost a year since I gave our master bathroom a makeover.
I took pictures the other day because the sun was coming in through the window and the bathroom was completely clean!
After redoing our closet the bathroom was pretty much a disaster. Since I basically took everything out of the closet and placed it around the bathroom.
Anyway before Christmas I had it sparkling clean.

You can read my original post when I completed the makeover here.

This is what you see from our bedroom doorway to the bathroom, the closet is on the left and the shower on the right, you can also see our lovely pink hot tub....that we never use.

I also believe my photography skills have much approved since then

I used to have another mirror on the wall, but when we had a storm in the summer it somehow fell off the wall and broke into the tub. Its on the bottom of my list of to do. You can read my post on my wall art here.
My chandelier has to be one of my favorite items in the bathroom. You can also read more about that here. I do want to change out the candles for something with color and skinnier in size.

You can read about my fabric roman shade here.

I bought these towels a few months ago on clearance for $4 a piece, love the yellow.

 my vanity area.
My shelf I made over you can see that post here.

This is the corner of the vanity sink area, the tray from a thrift store holds a few items. It helps keep the clutter in control, although I always have a million paint brushes sitting by the sink.

That's it for my bathroom update. I was actually planning on sharing this as a part of my favorite room makeover of the year but never got to it.

Its still a work in progress. As for the pink....it doesn't bother me as it used to when we had pale yellow walls.

have a fab weekend and if you want to win a beautiful dress from shabby Apple you can enter here.

What to do with a old electric chandelier?

Well with my old non-working electric chandelier

I turned it into

A candle chandelier!

I have had this chandelier sitting in my garage for a long time now, my mother gave it to me thinking I'd put it in the dining room but it was old and didn't work and I ended up using something different.

One day I looked at it and pulled it out of the mess and wanted to see if the light bulb holders? Could come off easily and they did.

I pulled them all off and cut the wires.

Then I hung it on a bungee cord to a tree to spray paint it, I used a primer first, then a glossy white and did about 3 coats, it wasn't easy getting the small arms.

I bought a 40lb ceiling hook and it was easy to instal and hung the chandelier with a new chain I also bought from Lowes.

The candles I picked up from Ikea yesterday, I used my hot glue gun to make sure they would stay in snug.

I always wanted a candle chandelier over my bathtub!

I love how it makes the bathroom a little bit more fun now!

I do wish the sun were out for better photos, but I couldn't wait to share my makeover!

This project cost me less then $20!

I'll be linking these to some great blogs! Check out my party list here.

Paper & Ribbon Mirror Makeover with Mod Podge

This mirror was a cheap one from The Christmas Tree shop and it had words written all over it so I painted it and use stencils to say French Bath Slats in french but decided I wanted something a little bit more fun, which I tend to do this often, I love change every once in a while.

This is what it looks like now

This is before, I dont have a photo of what it looked like originally

What I used to make the mirror a little bit more fun
Scrapbook paper, ribbon, good quality scissors, a ruler, mod Podge and a foam brush.

I used the ruler and a pencil to make lines and cut the paper into strips.

Then used mod podge to glue the strips onto the mirror frame.

I didn't make is perfect.

After placing them I let dry I did a few coats of mod podge and added the ribbon, sorry no pictures of adding the ribbon but I just cut strips and glued it to the paper.

and before again

after

and here are some cute pink glass bottles I picked up from clearance awhile ago from Michaels Arts and crafts

and these birds with crowns on there heads for cheap.

This was a cheap makeover also, already had everything!

Hope you will join in on my Simply Creations Link Party!

The tall cabinet is done

Once I brought this upstairs it was very difficult to get a good shot....its night time and I couldn't lean it up against the wall to were its going to stay to get a picture because of no space.
This is our water closet in our master bathroom.

.....................................

This is the tall but not wide cabinet/shelf my mother gave me a long time ago and it was just sitting in the kids hall collecting dust and not being used.

here it is waiting to be brought down to the workshop
with newspapers stuffed in it and the door was broken off by the kiddies
This piece needed to have the back attached with new nails and the door had to be fixed. Then I painted two coats of a white $3.99 Benjamin Moore oops paint that I picked up with my sister the other day.

I secretly like a little bit of pink so I had some cute flower scrapbook paper I picked up for cheap and Mod Podge it onto the door and painted around it with a blue paint. Then finished it off with a few coats of Mod Podge to seal it.

I haven't decided on what I'm going to put on the shelves for decorations, I'm planning on keeping it neat and simple....less is more and I'm trying to get rid of a lot of clutter these days.

here it is completed in the workshop

The door doesn't shut all the way and it never did, it had a latch but that went missing a long time ago....not sure what I will do about that.

I filled all the holes so I had to drill new ones for the hardware.
My handy power drill
I decided to use the original hardware...no point in getting new when these ones were perfectly fine.

This is were its going to stay, and although it looks like I have it up against the window its not but it fits well here.

See my mirror to the right?
I madeover that as well, I dont have a before picture because I must of forgotten to take one but its from the Christmas Tree Shops and it had some sayings all over it so I painted that a gray blue and stenciled french words and distressed it.

Here is a cute little picture frame with a mirror around it I picked this up at Target for $2

I placed a piece of scrap scrapbook paper for a picture.

So that's the cabinet.....after a long time sitting in the basement its finally done. I would like to accomplish much more this week but with my sons party on Saturday and our family party on Sunday I'm going to be busy getting everything put together so I wont have much time to work on furniture. I'm sure your wondering were that pedestal table is and why I haven't finished it....well its almost done, I just need to paste wax the pedestal and let it dry and I'm still looking for seating for it.

Here is a little peak of what I've done today with that simple table I'm going to use for the living room for a side table like I said here
You'll have to wait till I finish to see more

Have a goodnight!

The Master Bathroom

update: {other post on this bathroom}

Here is what the sink/vanity looked like before

Now

It wasn't easy getting a good picture of the light fixture
Also before we had a pink sink and we picked up the white one for free one day and bought a new facet about 2 years ago

Here is the light fixture I picked up at Lowes
See the tall cabinet in the mirror? That needs to be painted.

We dont have a door on our closet and the bin keeps our pup Zoey out

You can see more photos of my stool makeover here

I love how the color looks lighter by the sink then by the tub. You can read about my shelf makeover here.

I picked up the tray at a thrift store for $2 and the glass jar is from target. The mirror was $4.99 from Ikea and the rest of the stuff I already own.

You can read about a previous post on the small updates in the bathroom here.

Here is a before picture of the tub and shower area

you can see the side of the sailboat shelf I made over on the left

to now

You can read about my past blogs on the roman shade, the shower curtains and the wall art to see the better pictures of them.

Someday if we stay here I would love to take the tiles out the hot tub and shower to put a bigger shower and a normal sized tub with white tiles.

What do you think about the master bathroom makeover? Does the pink look less noticeable?
