Kitchen Roman Shade

I finished the roman shade for our kitchen window over the sink last night, so I let it sit all night to completely dry and after the kids went to school this morning I took my tools out and put the hardware in and here it is

With a mini blind taken apart and fabric glue you can do this. The only thing is I like to buy them from Lowes and this one I bought from Walmart and its been a pain to roll up and down. That is why it looks uneven in the photo. I love making these, did you know it can cost around $150 or more for a custom fabric roman shade? I spent less then $20.

When I first saw this fabric I wasn't sure about it so I didn't buy it and then I kept picturing it in the kitchen for a few weeks so I'm glad I decided on it. I was going to look for fabric with geometrical pattern but I kept thinking about this one.
I wanted to make a tutorial on making this but I forgot about it half way through. I'm going to make one for the boys bathroom soon.

See my front yard? Its all woods.

The Kitchen is the only room in the house that gets a lot of light through out the day and I wanted to make sure I didn't cover the window to much, so this works perfectly.

Other Stuff-
I bought this pedestal table a while back at Savers to use in our living room for playing games and I finally got it downstairs in the workshop and started sanding and stripping it. I know I should of taken a picture but I'll make sure I do before I do paint or stain.

I went to Home Depot today to get a few things and found a gallon of this pretty bright blue primer in one for $5 and a light green in a quart for $1 I love there oops paint.
Other then that I did some things in the laundry room and that's about it.

Tomorrow I'll post some pictures of the table
Have a great night!

Bathroom Roman shade

Here are some pictures of the roman shade in the daytime

I love the hint of sparkle

And at night
I used a Martha Stewart blue/green thin metallic ribbon and silver ribbon. I had to brush on the fabric glue with a small paintbrush, it was a little difficult i didn't have any acetone to thin the glue.

The fabric was $4.00 a yard and the ribbon was on sale. It took me about 3 hours to finish (in between picking kids up at the bus, homework and etc) it got finished at 11pm. I really like how it came out, I saw a roman shade that looked like this in Better Homes in Gardens (the new one) and got the idea from that. Next is making one for the kitchen window.

Bathroom updates

I have definitely got a lot lot done since my last post, I still haven't added that second coat to the toilet room. I might do it tonight, but there is a storm coming for tomorrow night and that will keep me in the house so will see, I also got side tracked by target and Ikea this past week. I love the new shoe cabinet! I'll post some pictures of the mudroom soon. So here are some updates

after
Although the paint is darker adding all the white frames pictures and mirrors lightens it up.

 before
its not the best picture, i left the paint can in the picture lol. The shower curtain is from Target's Thomas O'Brian's collection

I'm going to post more pictures tomorrow and how I made the roman shade.

Another Shade....

I made this one today for my bathroom and it work out well because its such a small window and the blinds are easy to make shorter by yourself. Thanks again to little green notebook blog. I added fabric to the top to cover the brackets that hold the shade since they weren't placed in the inside before. The fabric was 2.00 a yard. I found it at Joann's fabric store and it was on clearance. I think it was 10.00 a yard originally. But they are having an amazing sale right now.
Here is a picture of the fabric up close

Easy Fabric Roman shades

I just made these fabric roman shades last night and it took me about an hour to do it. It gets easier when you figure it out. I love them and they came out amazing thanks to The little Green Notebook's project she put up. I couldn't afford to buy fabric shades so this is a cheap project anyone can do. I got the fabric from Joann's and it cost me less then 20.00 for 2 yards of this fabric and 2 yards for another fabric and glue!
