Over The Weekend & Some Great Finds {3}

I had a great weekend. We delivered the drop leaf coffee table to the buyer in New Haven Connecticut. I will miss it. On our way we stopped in this local resale store and I scored this 1960's blue Smith and Corona Sterling typewriter. It cost me $15. It came with the original case, extra ribbons, original certificate and a few other booklets. Its in great condition. I'm going to give it a good cleaning and replace the ribbon and test it out.

I also dragged my guy into the Restoration Hardware store and picked up a sample of paint and this fan deck.
Now I'll have more options of paint colors for my custom painting customers.

I was very surprised to see these nightstands and shelf sitting outside when I came back from dropping the kids off at the bus.

They are cute and old. I already have knobs for these thanks to my sister who picked them up today.

My guy brought home a bunch of frames also today.

Some creepy paintings and prints and a few good ones like a original Frost The Snowman print from the 50's.
I have plans for the frames.

a rusty bike, I believe its to hang on the wall.

This vintage step stool that was made from The Paris Manufacturing Company in South Paris, Maine.

Its not easy to see.

I did some research and couldn't find much.

Today I worked on the custom painting.

Here is the telephone table so far. Its painted in BM Del Mar Blue, its a bit darker in person.

Here is one of the headboards, painted in White Dove by BM.
I can't wait to start distressing them to see the blue peak through.

I will share everything when I'm finished. Now I'm off to go make some ice cream with my new ice cream maker.

I finished painting the mudroom door yesterday, I will show you later in another post and also worked on the closet more I'll show you that later as well.

I worked a bit on my server yesterday afternoon, I'm almost done!

Today I started on the bench in the mudroom, it needs a fresh coat of paint. I also have to get to the grocery store.

I will show you some goodies I bought at Savers Friday.

These plates and cups are from the 50's, they are made by Taylor Smith Taylor and are called Blue Lace. I love the pretty blue color and the silver rim.

I bought 3 cups

and only 2 plates, they had more cups then anything.

Did you find anything awesome over the weekend?

Over The Weekend & Some Great Finds {2}

I didn't do a lot of shopping, as I'm on a tight budget, but I knew there were some great clearance items I eyed a few weeks ago at my favorite store to buy clearance, Target.

I've been looking for mirrors for the mudroom but lack space for them so I had an idea of placing them on the closet door, which is on the opposite side of the entry door.

I found 2 of these on clearance for $4.98

There are 4 small mirrors in a pack, I've already started painting them white.

Ignore the random sock in the photo.

I have an idea of arranging them on the door almost like panels, except not being to low, the door knob is in the way a bit, my guy is suppose to let me use the nail gun tomorrow night so I can attach them.

Something like this

{ picture found from Google.com  }

Except I only have one door, and I can't paint it white, hopefully it works out the way I imagine it.

I also picked up this desk lamp

This was originally $40 and I got it for $9.98, they always put there lamps on clearance, I need to go back and find one for the bigger boys room.
You can never have to many lamps.

I bought this cute bedding set, it comes with sheets also, for $14.99, it was $60, its for the youngest who just received his big boy bed a while ago.

{the 2 photos above are from Target.com }

I went to a yard-sale today and picked up a few good things, I dont have photos yet but I got a old wooden tool box, brass candle stick holders, a metal ice bucket ( which I needed ) a mirror that has no hook for hanging and it seems like it would be perfect for a tray, and I got a wooden utensil holder, perfect for an updated look and to be sold on Etsy.

Over the weekend I worked on my closet more, I clean out a lot more stuff, and most of the clothes are out since they all need to be washed, organized and I just need to go through and get rid of some for donations, I already have like 10 bags between me and the boys.

Not the best photo, as there is no natural light in here its going to be very difficult to get good photos, You can see were I painted the bottom half, I did this because one I dont have tons of leftover bathroom paint and also all the shelving and rods are white and want to blend that into the wall.

I want to have it organized and get white storage

This is for belts and not sure what else

I could use a few of these for pants

And this pretty bowl for jewelry

{ all of these photos are from Ikea }

I did get my new schoolhouse glass shade up, after having to buy a micro mini light bulb

This is what it was before, I painted the base, I just mix black and brown with a tiny bit of glaze to give it a shiny look, I was trying to go for a bronzed look, it looks much better.

So the closet it getting closer to be cleaner, while I do a few things in there, my room on the other hand is piled with clothes and stuff from the closet.

I also added some cute pictures to wall in the closet, I picked up 2 silver frames for $1.48 each at Target

I'm not sure were I'm hanging this one yet, but you will see it all when I complete the room.

That's its, I have to say my favorite find was the tool box, can't wait to show you.

What did you do over the weekend?

Where Have I been

I'm slacking on my blog, I've been busy busy packing and painting and friends visiting and I can not wait to leave for vacation.

We are driving up 7 and half hours to camp around Irving, New York.
I have never been this far up in New York and excited to see how its going to be. I've been camping ever since I was little. We used to go in the Cape Cod for camping and then we started going to Lake Sebago, Maine since I was 12 and went every summer until this year. Having a new family member ( Zoey our pup ) we wanted to take her with us but were we go we can't bring dogs.So this year we decided to go somewhere new.

We are driving in a camper, we've never done that either.
I have to say its will be pretty cool. The kids can sit on the couch or at the table when were driving. I can even pop popcorn in the microwave for a snack.
Its also been really easy to pack, I just put things away and put food in the fridge.

From left to right
1. Driver area
2. stove and microwave area
3.sink
4. couch
5.bunk beds and the big bed,and lots of closet space.

7. Zoey waiting to leave
8. bunk beds

We are leaving soon and I still have a lot to do, most of the kids clothes are packed, we just have a lot of last minute things to do.

I also had another custom order chevron tags for a lovely customer on Etsy. I finished it in one day and will be mailing them today.

This time there in plum color.

My mother came by yesterday to see if I wanted some of my grandmother's items. She sadly passed away in May but was ill and she went peacefully and happy.

I'm really thrilled to have a few items from her to keep and hand down to my kids someday.

I received these Bombay TV trays, we dont normally eat in the living room, but when we have parties and friends over it would be nice for everyone to have a table.

I also got this neat tray table? It is also from Bombay and its interesting.
My mother says its a server. It folds up for easy storage.

and last I put a few of my finds on my corner hutch.

These pearls were also my Grandmother's and I wanted to show them off in the dish.

I will start my link party tonight and I hope everyone will join. I promise to get back to my blog as soon as vacation is over.

Have a lovely day!

Over The Weekend & Some Great Finds

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend.
We were kid-free for most of the weekend which was lovely, although we didn't do much but Saturday my sister Liz and I took my son to the beach. We drove to Scarborough Rhode Island and it was beautiful. The price wasn't so shabby. Last year it cost us $14 to get in, this year $28.

The water was very nice, I went in many times and came home with a slight sunburn on my legs.
The rest of the weekend included gatherings at our family's houses and of course fireworks last night.
Today is going to be a relaxing day home and some catching up on housework.

My guy's parent had a yard-sale all weekend long and my sister and I stop in and this is was I came home with.

I'm not to sure what its meant for but I see it being used in the kitchen holding utensils or flowers?
What I love about it is that its enamel, and old.
It has a spout. If anyone knows what this is meant for please let me know.

I also picked this up
This measuring cup is also enamel
This would be a great vase.

I came home with a deep cast iron pan, which we needed.

I have always wanted one of these soap dished for the wall in our half bath.

My favorite find is this

I also have always wanted a vintage letter press drawer

They had many great items at there yard-sale, a lot of antiques.

I also want to mention the chair that these lovely items are sitting on

Well its actually a bar stool and I have 2 of them, they were given to me by a friend and he found them sitting by his dumpster at his job.
Then need minor repair, new screws and nuts but they are very unique looking.
I love the wood seats.

Now here is something I need some help with

I'm working on these chairs for our kitchen, I didn't paint the seat to see how I like them, I would stain the seat also, but should I paint them all white or keep the seat un-touched?

My guy also put my light up this weekend in our laundry room, I'll be showing you that later.
